Glossary
Alphabetical order (by the Spanish term). If a term sounds unfamiliar, look it up here before moving on.
C
Caja abierta (open register). An active cash session that has not been closed. It is the only one where orders can be charged. There can only be one per business at a time.
Carrito de mesa (table cart). What the waiter keeps adding to a table — it persists until it is charged.
Categoría (category). Groups menu products and defines the extras available for those products.
Cliente final (end customer). Person who orders online. Has an account separate from team members.
Cocina (KDS). Screen for the kitchen — shows active orders (pending, in preparation) in a grid, sorted by time.
Cupón (coupon). Promotional code applicable at checkout. Can be a % or a fixed $ amount.
D
Dashboard. The Dueño's main screen — sales, net profit, top products, comparisons. Only the Dueño sees it.
Diferencia de caja (cash difference). The subtraction between the cash the system expected to be in the drawer at closing and the cash the cashier counted. If positive, there was extra money; if negative, money was missing. It only looks at cash: card terminal or transfer money was never in the drawer and cannot be missing from it.
E
Equipo (team). The set of people with access to the business. Each one has a role (Dueño, Administrador, Trabajador or Cliente).
Extra (topping). Add-on added when ordering (cheese, sauce, bacon). It is linked to the category, not to each product.
F
Factura (documento) (invoice). Receipt with the business's own sequential number generated when charging one or more orders. It is immutable — it is never modified.
M
Mesa (table). Physical or virtual point of sale. Each one keeps its own cart.
Mostrador (counter). Special table that the system creates automatically. Used for quick sales without assigning a physical table (takeout, take-away).
N
Negocio (business). Your restaurant, café, bar or kitchen within Nexta. All data is isolated — a product loaded in one business does not appear in another.
O
Onboarding. The guided flow that runs as soon as you create your account — it takes you through creating your business and loading the minimum to start selling.
P
Pedido (order). What is sold. Has items, status, table, total and optionally a coupon and tip.
Permisos (permissions). What each role can see or do. Full table in Roles y permisos.
Plan. FREE / STARTER / PRO / ENTERPRISE. Defines how many products, team members and orders per month Nexta allows you.
R
Reserva (reservation). Future block of a table for a customer. Has a date, duration and number of people.
S
Sesión de caja (cash session). Work shift. Has an opening, a closing and accumulates everything charged in between. Financial reports are calculated by session.
T
Tracking de stock (stock tracking). Mode in which a product's inventory is counted. If it has no tracking, it is sold without counting units. If it does, each sale deducts one unit and when it reaches 0 it is hidden from the menu.
Trial / Período de prueba (trial period). The first 14 days after creating your business. It works as the FREE plan without requiring a credit card.
V
Anular un pedido (void). Mark an order as voided with a reason. It only applies to orders that were never charged: voiding a paid one is blocked, because its sale has an invoice and its money has already left the drawer.
X
X-Report. Partial report of the register without closing it. Useful mid-day to check how the shift is going.
