Module: Cocina (KDS)
Minimum plan: PRO
KDS is available from the PRO plan ($119.900 COP/month). Tenants on FREE or STARTER don't see the "Cocina" section in the sidebar. See plans →
KDS stands for Kitchen Display System. It is the view designed for a tablet in the preparation area.
What it's for
- It avoids paper tickets and transcription errors.
- Each work station (Cocina, Bar, Horno, Postres…) has its own screen that receives only its items.
- Items are processed separately: the bar can mark its beers as "ready" while the kitchen keeps working on the steak, without stepping on each other.
- The overall order status is derived from its items, so tables, POS and payments keep working the same as always.
What it looks like
One screen per station, organized in three columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Nuevos | Newly arrived items, not yet confirmed. |
| En preparación | Confirmed or in-progress items. |
| Listo | Finished items, waiting for delivery. |
Each card is large and easy to read from a distance: order number, table, only that station's items (each with its own status), notes and elapsed time. Each item has its own advance button (Confirmar → Iniciar → Listo → Entregado ✓) and the “Adelantar todos” button closes the ticket in one go: it takes all of that station's items to Entregado and removes the ticket from the screen.
At the top, the station tabs let you switch screens on the fly. Each tablet can pin its station with a fixed link (e.g. tu.app/app/kds?kds=abc) to always stay on its own.
How to set up the stations
- Go to Configuración → Comandas y pantallas.
- Create one station per work area:
Cocina,Bar,Horno,Postres… (Dueño or Administrador only). - On each station card, choose the printer where its tickets print with Imprime comandas en. A station has one printer; several stations can share it. It is optional: a station marked Sin impresora falls back to the printer of the product's category and then to the default comanda printer. See Configuración del negocio.
- Mark which one is the default station: it receives the items of products with no station and older orders.
- From Productos, assign each product to its station with the "Estación de cocina (KDS)" selector in the form.
A station can't be deleted if it has products or orders using it (the system asks you to reassign them first). You start with a default "Cocina" station, so everything works from day one.
How progress works
| Item | Action on screen | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Nuevo (PENDING) | Confirmar | The order is marked as seen/confirmed for that station |
| Confirmado | Iniciar | The item moves to "en preparación" |
| En preparación | Listo | The item moves to "listo" |
| Listo | Entregado ✓ | The item leaves all screens |
| Whole ticket | Adelantar todos ▸ | All of that station's items are delivered and the ticket leaves the screen, regardless of what status they were in |
The “Adelantar todos” button is for when the ticket has already gone out complete and has to be dispatched at once: it doesn't matter if one dish was "nuevo" and another "listo", both end up as "Entregado". While it runs, the screen shows how many changes are done (Adelantando… 3/8) and the dish buttons are locked so nobody touches them at the same time.
When the last active item of a ticket is delivered, the order is automatically marked as delivered and enables payment of the table. Paying in the POS also marks the items as delivered, so nothing that has been paid is left hanging in the kitchen.
Recipe on the screen
Every dish on a ticket that has something to read shows a Ver receta button right under its name. Tapping it opens the recipe without leaving the screen, so the cook can check how a dish is made while the ticket stays right where it was:
- Ingredients with the quantity per portion. If the ticket has
3×the dish, the recipe says so (Cantidades por porción · el pedido lleva 3): multiply before weighing. - Preparation steps, in order, plus the description, the notes and the prep time. Sections with nothing in them are left out.
- Adiciones: each add-on chosen on that line (for example "Queso extra") with the ingredients it uses. If the same add-on was chosen twice, it shows
×2. A plain dish with no recipe of its own still gets the button when one of its add-ons has ingredients. - If the product has sizes, the window names the ordered size and only the ingredients that apply to it are listed (the same rule the system uses to deduct stock).
The button appears when the dish has ingredients, steps, a description, notes or a prep time loaded, or when one of the line's add-ons has ingredients. To add or edit a recipe, go to Recetas (Dueño, Administrador or Trabajador). The Cocinero (COOK) doesn't need that module: the recipe is read from the KDS screen itself, and ingredient stock is never shown there.
The recipe opens on top of the board, which keeps updating underneath: new tickets and status changes still arrive while it is open. Reading a recipe never changes the ticket.
